Belitung, 18 October 2025 — The Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani (FK Unjani) held a Community Service (PkM) activity in Belitung Regency with the theme “Education on Anemia and the Rational Use of Antianemic Drugs.”
This activity is a concrete implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and reflects FK Unjani's commitment to improving health literacy and public awareness of the importance of rational drug use.
The event, held on Saturday, 18 October 2025, was attended by 50 participants consisting of health cadres, fishermen, housewives, and members of the public around the activity area. Through this activity, the community was encouraged to understand the importance of preventing and treating anemia, especially iron-deficiency anemia, which remains a common health problem in Indonesia.
During the activity, lecturers from the Department of Pharmacology gave interactive talks on recognizing the symptoms and causes of anemia, the role of nutrition in blood formation, and the correct and safe use of antianemic drugs, including guidelines for taking iron and folic acid supplements.
Participants enthusiastically took part in a lively discussion and Q&A session. Questions were raised about the side effects of blood-boosting medication, the best time to take supplements, and how to manage gastrointestinal effects caused by iron. In addition to education, participants also received simple hemoglobin checks and educational leaflets to improve their understanding of anemia.
The activity was led by Dr. Evi Sovia, dr., M.Si., Head of the Department of Pharmacology at FK Unjani, who also served as chair of the organizing committee, together with Dr. Welly Ratwita, dr., M.Kes., Drs. Hidayatul Rachman, Apt., M.Si., Dr. Rhea Veda Nugraha, dr., M.Kes., and Mr. Achmad Syah Resmana.

In her remarks, Dr. Evi Sovia said she hoped the activity would strengthen public awareness of the importance of early anemia prevention and wise medication use.

The activity was warmly received by the community and local officials, who appreciated FK Unjani's contribution to improving health knowledge among the coastal communities of Belitung.
The Department of Pharmacology of FK Unjani expressed its gratitude to the Head of Keciput Village, Sijuk District, Belitung Regency, for their support and cooperation in organizing this activity.
