PRESS RELEASE
FK Unjani Cimahi and MSU Malaysia Hold Community Service: Disaster Education and First Aid Training in Cikole Village
West Bandung, 3 September 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani (FK Unjani) Cimahi, in collaboration with the Medical Faculty of Management and Science University (MSU) Malaysia, held a community service activity entitled “Disaster Awareness Education and Capacity Building in First Aid and Basic Life Support for Cikole Village Cadres.”
The activity involved 45 FK Unjani students, 14 MSU Malaysia students, and around 60 cadres representing Cikole Village. It also involved other members of the FK UNJANI academic community, including lecturers and administrative staff, as well as government representatives — an implementation of cooperation between local government and higher education as part of the “golden triangle” relationship.
The Head of Cikole Village, Drs. H. Tajudin, M.Ag, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for FK Unjani's contribution to improving the capacity and preparedness of Cikole residents. He also welcomed the plan to designate Cikole as an FK Unjani partner village in the future.
Representing the FK Unjani leadership, Dr. dr. Bagus Tjahjono, MPH, Head of the Department of Disaster Management at FK Unjani and trainer at the BNPB Education and Training Center, opened the activity. In his presentation, he emphasized the importance of building community capacity and of conducting training before disasters occur.
The program began and ended with a pre-test and post-test to measure the cadres' understanding of potential disasters in Cikole Village. Participants then received material on local disaster conditions and early warning systems delivered by Dr. dr. Bagus Tjahjono, MPH.
The cadres were also trained in first aid and basic life support (BLS) through a presentation by dr. Glen Glady Prakasa, M.M.B., followed by hands-on practice facilitated by students from FK Unjani and MSU Malaysia.
One of the participating cadres, Mrs. Siti, shared her positive feedback: “This activity was very useful for us. We now better understand the disaster risks in our village and know how to help people correctly. We hope this training continues and more residents join to learn.”
Through this activity, and in line with its vision and mission, FK Unjani Cimahi reaffirms its commitment to strengthening community resilience, especially in disaster-prone areas, through continuous education, international collaboration, and support for partner villages.
